-
Queenie: One of
the Compson horses in The
Sound and the Fury.
-
Quick: A sawmill
owner in The Hamlet. Evidence in the novel
suggests he may be Lon Quick, but Ben
Quick (who also appears in The Hamlet) is elsewhere described as
a sawmill owner.
-
Quick, Ben: A
sawmill owner in "Tomorrow" (in Knight’s Gambit). His son, Isham, is similar to
the Lon Quick of The
Hamlet. He may also be the "Uncle Ben Quick" in The
Hamlet who owned the goats which Ratliff
used to try to outwit Flem Snopes
-
Quick, Isham: Ben
Quick's son. In "Tomorrow,"
he found a half-drawn pistol in Buck
Thorpe's hand after Thorpe had been killed by Odum
Bookwright.
-
Quick, Lon (old): A
farmer near Frenchman's Bend
who bought one of Flem Snopes'
Texas ponies. The pony got away from him, and throughout the novel he never
caught it. He may have caught it, however, for he is later described in As
I Lay Dying as a neighbor of the Bundrens
and the owner of one of the descendants of Flem Snopes' spotted
horses, which he traded to Jewel
Bundren in return for Jewel's clearing a field for planting. In The
Hamlet he was described as the owner of a sawmill.
-
Quick, Lon
(young): The son of Old Lon Quick. In As
I Lay Dying, he found Dr.
Peabody's lost buckboard.
